Ryan holds an honours degree in finance from Wits and a PGDIP (Property Studies) from University of Cape Town. He is also a qualified Key Individual (category I and II), who is regulated by the FSCA. He co-founded Construct Capital in 2007.
Ryan started his career working at a derivative trading desk (CFD) in London. Thereafter, he specialised in debt finance and more specifically property development funding, working for both ABSA Commercial and Investec in their property finance divisions managing key clients accounts.
Ryan has broad market sector experience, having developed and financed properties across the commercial, leisure, residential, and industrial sectors, and has developed some structured products to facilitate the capital structuring of developments.
Clifford holds a BSc (Building) degree and a BComm Honours in Finance, both from the University of Witwatersrand. He co-founded Construct Capital in 2007.
After qualifying, Clifford spent several years in Cape Town in construction, working on high end residential developments in both project and construction management. After returning to Johannesburg to complete a finance degree in 2001, he joined ABSA Commercial Property Finance where he served in various capacities including the role of Regional Manager for Gauteng, Free State and the Northern Cape divisions. He joined New City Group as their Development Manager and was responsible for the development of several landmark buildings in Cape Town and Johannesburg. Clifford has also been the CEO of an AltX listed company and lectured in the Faculty of Engineering and the School of Construction Economics and Management at the University of Witwatersrand from 2001 – 2017.
Clifford has broad market sector experience, having both structured the capital for, as well as managed the development of, numerous large-scale properties across the commercial, leisure, residential, and industrial sectors.
Bryce holds a BSc Quantity Surveying and PGD Property Development and Management from the University of the Witwatersrand.
Susan holds a BA (LLB) degree from the University of Cape Town. She is a qualified attorney and holds a Business Rescue Practitioner’s licence.
Susan started her career as a practising attorney with what is now called Cliffe Decker Hofmeyr, heading up the collections department (with the major banks as her clients) and specialising in Insolvency Law.
After 6 years practising as an attorney, Susan joined Cape of Good Hope Bank as a loss control manager. Shortly thereafter, Cape of Good Hope Bank Limited was consolidated with Nedbank, when she was promoted to the regional head of loss control (Nedbank Corporate: Property Finance), managing the recoveries team and personally handling all litigation arising therefrom (including insolvencies and business rescues), as well as negotiating all amendments of loan terms for large exposure clients. She further sat as a member of the credit panel, reviewing new property loans and restructures. Susan spent 15 years in this position with Nedbank.
Since leaving Nedbank, Susan has had diverse exposure to property from managing large commercial and industrial portfolios to broking complex property sales, including distressed properties. She has consulted to developers and their legal teams on the liquidation or business rescue of the building contractor.
Susan joined Construct Capital at the beginning of 2019 and brings a wealth of banking and legal experience.
Jan-Paul holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Pretoria.
Prior to joining Construct Capital in 2018, Jan-Paul started his career in construction, working on residential and commercial developments in both Gauteng and the Western Cape. His core responsibilities included managing the construction of the structure and a high-end unitized façade installation. Jan-Paul also spent some time in the UK working for Transport for London on a design for a new high-speed railway line called Crossrail 2 that is currently still being developed.
Jan-Paul has a broad understanding of the construction sector with hands-on site experience.
Cavan holds a BSc Construction Management degree with Honours from the University of the Witwatersrand.
Cavan commenced his career working on site on large scale sectional title housing developments in Gauteng, where he gained invaluable hands on experience.
Following this, Cavan worked for a private equity property fund as a Project Manager, responsible for the office to residential conversions and a wide range of refurbishment projects, enabling the unlocking of optimal value across a diverse property portfolio.
Cavan has further consulted to various clients in the project and development management space across the commercial and residential sectors. He has experience in the assessment of viability during pre-development stages, due diligence and the management of construction projects from inception to close out.
Cavan’s roots are deeply set in construction project management and he has a passion for deriving value through property development.
Thami obtained a BSc (Hon) in Construction Management from the University of Witwatersrand in 2015. Prior to joining Construct Capital in 2019, Thami started his career as a site engineer, working mostly on residential projects in both the Eastern Cape and Gauteng. He has experience in both affordable housing and up-market sectional title developments.
Thami’s on-site experience and “hands on approach” allows Construct Capital to successfully deliver Construction Management Projects.
